Meet our sweet second-grade teacher, Ms. McKevitt!

This is Ms. McKevitt’s sixth year teaching at Ignite Academy. Along with teaching elementary grade levels, she has experience as a homeschool consultant, Montessori teacher, associate producer of a children’s TV show, an ophthalmologist educator, and special education teacher.

She is inspired by Charlotte Mason, who also inspires our mission and vision as a school.

Ms. McKevitt loves her New York Giants… sorry Tampa Bay! But we are glad she has called Florida home.

Meet our awesome first grade teacher, Mrs. Velasquez!

This is Mrs. Velasquez’s sixth year teaching at Ignite Academy and her thirty-first year as an educator. She was a stay-at-home mom before God called her back to college where she earned her degree in Elementary Education and her minor in Bible.

Her biggest inspiration is her mother, who set the example for what it looks like to love others, pray without ceasing, and to trust God in every situation.

Mrs. Velasquez loves the community here at Ignite & we love her too! ❤️

Every day our staff gathers together for our morning huddle to share words of encouragement and to pray over our learners before they walk through the doors.

On Fridays, we share wins from the week. An awesome time to reflect and praise the growth happening in our classrooms.

Meet our Kindergarten Teacher, Mrs. Johnson! This

Meet our Kindergarten Teacher, Mrs. Johnson!

This is Mrs. Johnson’s fourth year as our kindergarten teacher. Before teaching at Ignite, she was a first grade teacher for two years after graduating from Florida Gulf Coast University. She wrote on her graduation cap, “It will be my joy to say Your will, Your way, Always.”

When asked what her favorite thing about working at Ignite is, she said: “Because the school has Christ as its foundation, we as teachers are able to work alongside the families and teach to the whole child; spiritually, mentally, physically and emotionally.”

We love Mrs. Johnson but in November she will be moving away from the Tampa area to be with her husband at his new job in south Florida. And she is still saying, “It will be my joy to say Your will, Your way, Always.”

Thank you, Mrs. Johnson, for being a light to your learners and a wonderful teacher, colleague, and friend in our community. We’re soaking up these last few months with you!
