Academics at Ignite Academy
As a health focused environment, we value an approach to education that looks at the whole child and aligns with the character, values, and skills needed for boundless growth. Charlotte Mason described education as “an atmosphere, a discipline, and a life.” This view helps us see that learning is so much more than the acquisition of knowledge. At Ignite Academy, we view every child as a “learner” who is uniquely created and will be used to make a positive impact on the world. Our school and classrooms are healthy environments that offer a variety of opportunities for children to engage with their learning, with one another, with God, and with their purpose.
Our academic program includes instruction and exploration in mathematics, reading, writing, science, the humanities, and the arts. Our day includes time for direct instruction in content areas, project based learning, and interdisciplinary studies to allow for application in real-world contexts. In addition, we integrate the following values throughout our curriculum and school day to ensure its learners achieve boundless growth.
Values to ignite boundless growth
Having a growing relationship with Christ; understanding how our story fits within the larger story; loving God and loving others
The ability to make healthy decisions and form healthy habits in regards to our spiritual, mental, and physical well-being
The ability to ask questions and explore how the world works
Innovation; the ability to generate new ideas and turn them into a reality
The ability to analyze information and ideas and to form reasoned arguments and judgments; problem solving
Literacy and oracy; the ability to express thoughts and feelings clearly and confidently in a range of media and forms
The ability to work constructively with others (learn as groups, not just in groups)
The ability to empathize with others and to act accordingly
The ability to engage constructively with society and to participate in the processes that sustain it; global awareness
The ability to plan and execute effectively; the ability to be flexible, adaptable, have initiative, and take responsibility; leadership skills
What do parents say about Ignite’s academic program?
“How they are teaching the kids carries over into how my child behaves, thinks, and responds to situations in their entire life, not just at school.”
“A school that can see the child’s strengths and don’t let weaknesses hold them back. Treat weaknesses as an opportunity to grow.”
“Ignite teachers are more concerned about developing a child to be their best than the grades and scores.”
